Denise Rutter-Lang

Denise is a single mom who has been quilting for over 20 years, and longarm quilting for more than 7 years.  She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Dramatic Art, with an Emphasis in Design, from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  She went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Costume Design and Construction from San Diego State University- where she fell in love with painting on fabric.  After working in theatre for a few years, Denise left the workforce to focus on family.  She spent many years making traditional quilts, but yearned for a technique that was more fulfilling.  Eventually Denise combined her love of painting on fabric with her love of quilting and began making art quilts.  The three years Denise lived in Hawaii is a major influence on her work. Her purchase of an Innova longarm gave her a tool to fully explore her creativity as a free motion quilter.  She is so happy to share her knowledge of painting on fabric and free motion quilting through her classes, lectures, social media, and YouTube channel. .
